Timelines can be linked to — and viewed on a stand-alone web page — or embedded in another web page such as a blog.
To be capable of linking or embedding, timelines need to be "public" — this simply means that you are allowing them to be seen in a read-only mode. "Public" timelines are not listed in any directory that can be searched or browsed to. Follow these instructions to make a timeline public.
Once a timeline is "public",
1. On the timelines panel, click on the options button to the right of the timeline

2. Click on the "Link/Embed" button, and you'll see a menu that looks like this:

3. For linking, click on the link text — it will all be selected for you — then copy it to your clipboard. You can test it by pasting it into the address bar of a new browser tab or window.
4. Embedding is a little more complicated. The default embed tag (which uses an iFrame) looks like this:
< iframe width="100%" height="550" src="http://timeglider.com/app/viewer.php?uid=line_idaho">
Copy this text and place it in the web page HTML you are working with. Since its width is set to 100%, it should expand automatically to fill the space you place it in. You can adjust the height appropriately. The more space you allow for a timeline, the better. We do not recommend using a column (as in a blog) narrower than 450 pixels. Ideally, one has at least 600 pixels of width to work with.
To publish 2+ timelines in a single presentation, you must be a TimeGlider Plus user. From inside the Plus environ (non-Flash), click on the Presentations tab and follow from there. |
